MWO: WoT 3050

Played a bunch of games with the trial mechs you start with and realised it's World of Tanks, but in giant robots.
Sweet graphics, lots of fun, heaps of playability.
Definitely suggest getting in on it for some fun

He was right - I'm still terrible at this, but it's great to play, so I don't mind the queue of players lining up to anally intrude on my poor trial mechs!

new maps and new games style with multiple control points
8 man pre mades only play against pre mades no more curb stomping pugs
you can still do 4 mans and play against pugs though
also coolant flushes have been added along with air strikes and arty strikes.
everything is starting to balance out well

Really? I played MWO in beta and absolutely hated it.
But that was probably just me
I couldn't stand it in early beta. They fixed a bunch o' things. I mean, I'm still terrible and get annihilated all the damn time, but it's all worth it for that one match in 20 when you headshot an Atlas with dual gauss rifles.

I blame Sabrina for telling people that there are more of Mack's vids, which made me watch them which made me look into MWO which made me download it...
Getting used to the movement was quite interesting at first, because I thought well, if the torso acts like a turret it'll be just like WOT, which it completely isn't. After getting used to keeping an eye on where my legs point it became far more interesting and now I am slowly oh so slowly getting used to tactics.
Seems to me thouhg that most matches end in either one team or the other completely curbstomping the other team, seldomly is it a close call with only two mechs left standing. Whichever team sticks together better wins apparently.
After seeing Mack's use of a Catapult I got me one of those C-1s too but I completely suck at them, usually pocking my head out too far and dying, or being completely useless because my team cannot keep eyes on the enemies for my missiles to track them. Now I consider refitting it with 3 Large Lasers and some SRMs to deal more direct fire pain.
At first I thought Lights were not my playstyle but I got myself a basic Jenner and kinda like it.
So far I still try to get to grips with all the refitting options, the community sites are helping though, somewhat.
Seems like the ISK grind is the worst part of the game so far, let's see how it goes over the next few weeks.

Got my C-1 3x LargeLaser + 2x SSRM2 + beagle + anti missile bum-so-cheap-without-any-special-shit-at-all version now, it's kinda fun.
Time to grind ISK for double heatsinks and endo armor. Also gimme GXP! Want my seismic sensor!

Not your mum! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry, couldn't resist, too obvious.
Ok, downloading it now. Which mechs dont suck?
You get four trial mechs (which according to MWO change now and then) which you can ride for starters, to get used to the game and the different weight types, found the Cataphract and the Atlas which are on trial right now quite fun, you can't modify them so they come as stock and you won't get hull XP but ISK and general XP, so they are quite nice for starters until you scraped together some mil to buy your first own one.

Got a Jenner JR7-D trained to expert level, Cataphract CTF-4X and Trebuchet TBT-5N both to full basic level.
I'm saving to buy a couple more trebs at the mo so I can decide which i like best and get that to Expert too.
After that, it's gonna be an ATLAS
Also, lets get a list of in-game names here!

Still using the trial mechs, trying to decide which mech line to go down first. Current pub match meta seems to be "anything that can fit 3-4 PPCs with decent heat management", though that reeks of FOTM about as badly as the derp shermans in WoT did.

But the Dakka of the Trial-Hunchback is quite funny, if you manage to flank enemies and rape their LRM boats or something.
So I bought a Centurion CN9-AL. It works decently if you dont get assraped by PPC boats just trying to get into range to hit something. I switched to a 4x ML 2x SRM6 weapon loadout which seems to give decent firepower at its 270m range, it doesn't have quite as much dakka as a hunchback but survives a fuckton longer. The trial hunchback literally could get 1 shot by a PPC boat.
